Letting an impartial shuffle do it skips the egos entirely: because the draw is genuinely random, nobody can claim the teams were stacked, and there's no captain to resent. It's perfect for pickup sports, five-a-side, board and card games, classroom group projects, splitting chores between housemates, secret-gift draws, or deciding turn order for anything. For larger groups, make three teams and merge or split from there; for a quick one-versus-one ladder, shuffle the order and pair people off down the list.
